The Romanian Publishers Association (AER), the organizer of the Bookfest Book Fair, the most prominent event in the publishing industry, signals to the public an autumn full of new books, events and authors that have delighted and will delight readers from several cities in the country and abroad.

Thus, AER has just concluded a very beautiful seventh edition of the Bookfest International Book Fair in Chisinau (August 28 – September 1), alongside beloved authors, but also personalities from the highest level in the Republic of Moldova. Under the slogan "I embrace you", a symbolic extension of the embrace with which the Republic of Moldova marked its status as Guest of Honor at the Bookfest Bucharest International Book Fair (May 29 - June 2, Romexpo), the audience enjoyed memorable encounters with Ioana Pârvulescu, Cristian Tudor Popescu, Radu Paraschivescu, Radu Aldulescu, Cristian Preda, to name just a few authors from Romania, as well as the presence of personalities originally from the Republic of Moldova, including Ionela Hadârcă, Emilian Galaicu-Păun, Dumitru Crudu, Maria Șleahtițchi, Vasile Romanciuc or Maria Pilchin. Bookfest Chișinău was also honored by the visit of the President of the Republic of Moldova, H.E. Maia Sandu, the President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, and the Prime Minister Dorin Recean, to mention only the highest officials from Chisinau who wanted to participate in the Bookfest events and buy books from the approximately 40 participating publishing houses.

The autumn Bookfest caravan is just beginning, so the public is also warmly invited to take part in the ninth edition of the Bookfest Târgu Mureș Book Fair, from September 26-29, in the foyer of the National Theater Târgu Mureș. Several renowned cultural figures will be there to meet with readers, some of whom will be presenting their books for the first time at a Bookfest event in the city in the heart of the country. In this regard, we recall Dennis Deletant, Radu Aldulescu, Cătălin Vasilescu, Ciprian Mihali, Marian Tudor, Dan-Liviu Boeriu, Tudor Ganea, Octav Gheorghe, Marius Turda, Bogdan Răileanu along with Cristian Tudor Popescu, Radu Paraschivescu, Denisa Comănescu, Cristian Preda or Alexandru Stermin.


Immediately after the book festival in Târgu Mureș, AER will kick off the eleventh edition of the Bookfest Book Fair in Cluj-Napoca, in the same romantic setting of the Casino in the city's Central Park, between October 3-6, and will conclude the journey with the eighth edition of the Bookfest Brașov Book Fair,  between October 31st and November 3rd, with an edition that already promises to be spectacular through the lineup of new authors and titles that will be available at the stands of participating publishers.

And the first part of next year promises to be one full of weighty events, as Bookfest has already become accustomed to; thus, between March 27 and March 30, Timișoara will once again become an ad-hoc capital of the publishing world, on the occasion of the twelfth edition of Bookfest that will take place in Banat, followed by the eighteenth edition of the Bookfest International Book Fair that will take place in Bucharest, between May 28 and June 1, 2025.

We hope that the public will respond with the same enthusiasm to our invitation to these meetings, convinced that the mission of promoting Romanian literature and meetings with cultural personalities of the moment remains one of the main goals of the Romanian Publishers Association.

We recall the request addressed to the Romanian Copyright Office, in AER's public message of August 23, to make known the steps taken by it to assume the message received, on June 18, by the Prime Minister of Romania and three of the ministers from IFRRO (International Federation of Collective Management Organizations).

AER will also continue its mission of external representation of publishers' interests, and will be represented at the Frankfurt Book Fair (October 16-19, 2024), the largest event in the book industry worldwide, through the executive director, who will participate in a series of professional meetings in which the above topics will certainly be addressed.
